Rev. Andrew J. Preus

Biography

Rev. Andrew Preus is the pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Haven, MO. Pastor Preus received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, ON, graduating in 2013. He studied at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne the following year and graduated with his Master of Sacred Theology in 2017. His thesis is entitled De Cruce: The Cross as A Topic in Classical Lutheran Dogmatics. He was ordained on August 3rd, 2014, in McGregor, Iowa.  He served Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Guttenberg and McGregor, Iowa, from 2014 until July 2021.

He has presented papers and articles on various topics of theology, including "The Theology of the Cross in the Lutheran Confessions”; "Patriarchy: What and Why?'; "The World Wants Ugly Women: Worldly Beauty vs. Christian Beauty,"; "The Atonement: When Did Lutherans Start Denying It?"; and “Institution, Promise, and the Certainty of Salvation: A Survey of Luther’s Pro Veritate of 1518," published in Servant of Christ's Church: A Festschrift in Honour of John R. Stephenson (St. Catharines, ON: 2023); and, tract book entitled "What Makes Good Culture? Its Death and Its Life" (Lutheran News, 2021).

Pastor Preus is the eighth son of Rev. Rolf and Dorothy Preus. He married Leah (Fehr) on August 7, 2009, and they have seven children.
